In addition to these incredible skills with the ball, many footballers have hobbies which they tend to do when they need a break from the field. From bingo to poker, here are some of the unexpected hobbies famous footballers like to do.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo.

Would you believe that Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the world’s biggest football players, loves playing bingo? His admiration for bingo all began when he was given a DVD bingo game for Christmas to help him learn English. Ronaldo describes the traditional game as exciting.

2. Neymar Jr.

In addition to his skills on the field, Neymar Jr. has a deep love for poker and he is really good at it! The Brazillian soccer star even posted an Instagram story of himself playing poker on PokerStars. Neymar Jr. is no stranger to the poker world. He has been a representative for the Red Spade tournament in the past. The Paris St. Germain star has scored man.

3. Petr Cech.

The legendary goalkeeper has some talented hands. In addition to saving goals, Petr is a talented drummer too. He began playing the drums in 2010, and whenever he gets the chance, he plays the drums at home and at concerts.

4. Andrea Pirlo.

Sticking true to his Italian culture, Pirlo has a serious love affair with winemaking. When he isn’t playing football, Pirlo can be found at his vineyard in the Lombardy region. He adores lazy days in the Italian countryside, which perfectly coincides with his winemaking hobby.

The Danish footballer, Daniel Agger, is tattooed from head to toe. What many people do not know is that Agger is a qualified tattoo artist and some lucky fans have been tattooed by him. Adorned in Viking tattoos, Agger proudly wears his Danish heritage on his sleeves.

The former German football player has a thing for the kitchen. Moritz Volz loves baking delicious cakes. In one of Volz personal blogs, he says, “When we played the big clubs like

Arsenal or Manchester United, I made a biscuit-based cake with bananas and a dusting of green tea.” Volz would bake a cake based on his opponent team.

7. Theo Walcott.

Did you know that Theo Walcott has published children’s books? All his books are based on a boy called TJ and his love for football. At first, it might sound strange for a football player to have a love for writing children’s books. However, both parents and children have given positive reviews for Walcott’s books.

8. Michael Owen.

The former Liverpool FC player has a passion for horse racing. He first started placing small bets with his dad while growing up. As his football career progressed, he was able to become a serious horse racing bettor. Owen has his own stables and one of his horses won the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2011.

9. Clint Dempsey

The former Fulham and Tottenham star Clint Dempsey has always had a passion for rap music. He performed under the stage name ‘Deuce’ and he even collaborated on a track for Nike ahead of the 2006 World Cup. Dempsey portrays a deep understanding of the Hip Hop culture, especially his hometown of Houston.

When Beckham left Real Madrid for LA Galaxy in 2007, he embraced the ultimate Hollywood lifestyle. While hanging out with movie stars like Tom Cruise and Will Smith, he started fencing. According to Will Smith, “This is his (Cruise’s) way of getting together and bonding. David and I go to his home and just do fencing.”

11. Joe Allen.

This is by far one of the more unusual hobbies on the list. Joe Allen and his wife revealed that they save hens. Amongst the chickens that they own are Bruce, Rodney, Meg, Steve, and Giblets. He was even on the front cover of Chicken & Egg magazine.

12. Xavi.

The Barcelona icon is obsessed with the fungi kingdom. Better known as mycology, Xavi enjoys mushroom hunting. He even took Gerard Pique and Shakira on a trek for mushrooms.

13. Toni Kroos.

Aside from his brilliance on the field, Toni Kroos loves playing darts and is a big fan of the darts player Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor.
