As the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in cancellations of different summer events, we are more than happy to be able to watch the Premier League again. Even though a postponement left fans nervous, the season began on September 12. We want to honour the Premier League by going back in time and digging up some of the best goals in the Premier League of this decade.
Juan Mata, Manchester United vs. Liverpool
A fantastic goal was made by Juan Mata in 2015. He had scored a goal beforehand, but this time he got a pass from Angel di Maria and did a fantastic bicycle kick to awe commentators, fans, and the other players. Manchester United won the match 2-1 at Anfield, and it is safe to say Mata got a hero status at the time.
Charlie Adam, Chelsea vs. Stoke City
The same year as Juan Mata’s stunner, Charlie Adam scored a wonder goal against Chelsea. The Scotland midfielder shot the ball from his own half, which flew over the Chelsea goalkeepers head and into the net. An unbelievable goal which was even more impressive given the fact, that Thibaut Courtois was one of the best European goalkeepers at the time. Even though Stoke City ended up with losing the match, the goal was probably more memorable than the match itself.
Robin van Persie, Manchester United vs. Aston Villa
This night in 2013 must be one of the most legendary ones, if you ask Robin van Persie. Wayne Rooney shoots a long ball towards Van Persie, and the Dutch striker does a left-footed volley, which goes beautifully in the net. Not only is this a goal, that requires immense technique and precision, but it is also a goal, that helped Manchester United win the Premier League title.
Son Heung-min, Tottenham Hotspur vs. Burnley
This goal, which won Sky Sports’ Best Premier League Goal of All Time, emphasizes why Son Heung-min is one of the best players in the Premier League. In this goal against Burnley, Son has the ball in his own half, but somehow, he manages to dribble past nearly the entire team and finishes his solo run with a goal. This is definitely one for the books.
